I'm a tutor based in Chicago, Illinois, where I enjoy playing music, disc golf, and gardening outside of the classroom. I have my bachelor's degree in Special Education from Roosevelt University. I'm extremely passionate about teaching, which led me to teach in a therapeutic high school classroom of high functioning autistic students. Teaching isn't always easy, though. My time spent teaching in high school was often very frustrating. It required hard work on the part of us teachers to change students' behaviors and motivate them to progress both academically and socially. We didn't always have the support of the students' families while working towards our students' goals. However, I always looked forward to the challenge and genuinely enjoyed working with the students. At the end of the day, by providing individualized lesson plans for each student, and focusing on targeted areas of achievable growth, we were able to reach our goals with the students. There is an immense satisfaction in struggling through an educational hurdle with a student and then helping them rise up to beat it. This skill of perseverance is something that can be applied to all facets of life, and it's genuinely a joy to help students develop it. I hope that I can do the same for you, and look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals.
